Chinese Guardians
Signed photograph ~ Maria A. Barnowl
Animal figures on roof ridges of palaces, temples and other old buildings
are an important part of traditional Chinese architecture.
The number of the figures on the building represents its importance.
The guardians are immortal and serve to protect the building.
They have super vision and hearing used to perceive evil spirits and fend them off.
